Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement
Every child deserves access to life-saving nutrition.
At the Mothers’ Milk Bank of Mississippi, we are deeply committed to fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion in everything we do. We recognize that breast milk is a vital resource for the health and well-being of infants, and we believe every child, regardless of race, ethnicity, socio-economic status, gender identity, or geographic location, deserves equitable access to this life-saving nutrition.
Our mission is to ensure that all mothers and families feel supported and empowered, particularly those from historically underserved communities. We strive to address health disparities by prioritizing outreach and service to vulnerable populations, including low-income families, premature infants, and children with medical conditions who are at greater risk of health challenges.
We are committed to:
- Equitable access: Ensuring that our services and resources are accessible to all families, especially those who have traditionally faced barriers to breastfeeding support and healthcare.
- Cultural responsiveness: Providing education and support that is respectful and responsive to the diverse cultural values, beliefs, and practices of the families we serve.
- Inclusive partnerships: Building collaborative relationships with healthcare providers, community organizations, and advocates from diverse backgrounds to broaden our impact and reach.
